Early joining for Lee Kang-in of PSG has been canceled without a response
The Korean Football Association had initially planned to announce Lee Kang-in’s participation in the Asian Games today.
But with his club, Paris Saint-Germain, still unable to confirm, coach Hwang Sun-hong is getting frustrated.
[Hwang Sun-hong, head coach of the Hangzhou Asian Games soccer team: “I’m a bit frustrated. Lee Kang-in wants to join early, but the timing with PSG seems to be a bit out of sync.”]
With the first round match against Kuwait only a few days away, Lee’s early arrival is now a virtual certainty.
Still recovering from a thigh injury, Lee will not play in this weekend’s league game, but it’s possible he could join the squad for the Champions League match against Dortmund on the 20th and the league match against Marseille on the 25th, if not later.
This would mean that he would skip the group stage altogether and only join the team after the round of 16.
It’s a worst-case scenario for coach Hwang Sun-hong, who has been waiting for the elusive Lee Kang-in.

Huang lamented that Paris Saint-Germain seemed to be unwilling to cooperate, perhaps conscious of the fact that the club would have to wait until the Asian Cup next January.
