According to Forbes, Vertex Entertainment and Resort, owned by the second richest person in the Philippines, plans to open two new casinos in Manila. The casinos are part of a larger project, a huge real estate plan to be built.

Philippine and Korean companies will cooperate:

The owner, Manuel Villar Jr., announced the project, calling it Villa City. The city will be located in Metro Manila, and will span 3.5 hectares (8.649 acres) of land.

Villar is not alone in the project – at least one of the casinos will be built in cooperation with a Korean partner. According to sources, the deal has already been completed, and the project will be carried out in cooperation with Do Win Group, the operator of Korea’s famous VIP club.

There are many reasons why they wanted to partner with Korean companies. One of the most important reasons is the impact of Korean tourists on the Philippines. They are one of the countries with the highest number of tourists visiting the Philippines this year, as announced by the Ministry of Tourism.

According to Villar, the project will invest more than $1 billion. There will also be a huge Vista Mall Global South shopping project that will house the first casino. It will be located across 80 hectares of land in Las ̃, southwest of the National Capital Region.

Another casino, which will be located in Las Pinas, will be a larger one, but other details are not yet known.

Ambitious projects:

The city of Villar will consist of a central business district, a university district, an exciting theme park, and two casinos as planned, with 15 communities including Tagug, Las Pinas, Paranake, Muntinrupa, Bakoor, Dasmarinas, Imus, San Pedro, General Mariano Alvarez, Silang, General Trias, Tanja, Trece Martírez, Carmona, and Tagaitai. The 10-kilometer-long Villar Avenue will connect several parts of the new city.

Villar said, “Because of its sheer size, it will be a work of a lifetime, and it will even be beyond my lifetime. I won’t be able to see the full completion of it, but it will be a proud moment for all of us here right now to say that we are pioneers in Villar City.”

He added, “We will open the Brittany Hotel here by December of this year. We will also build a golf course, a church, a coliseum, and a casino nearby where domestic and foreign artists can hold concerts. And that’s just one part of the city of Villar. We have even more ambitious plans to help the people of the Philippines.”

Villar is the second-largest entrepreneur in the U.S. after the Sy siblings, and is ahead of Enrique Razon, which owns a diverse casino business in the country.
