Jeju Dream Tower keeps sales up in February

Casino sales at Jeju’s Dream Tower resort rose 0.3 percent sequentially to 23.94 billion won in February, according to data submitted to the Korea Exchange on Monday. The February tally rose 538.3 percent year-on-year.

February saw a second consecutive month of increase in casino sales on Jeju, a semi-autonomous island with many foreigner-only casino properties.

Lotte Tourism pointed out that casino sales are calculated as a net amount of fees paid to dealerships, which is somewhat different from industry sales data compiled by the Korea Casino Association.

Table game sales in February were flat sequentially, slightly above 22.77 billion won, and were up 594.5% year-over-year.

Last month’s tally of machine game sales was nearly 1.17 billion won, up 3.2 percent from January. The result was a 147.4 percent increase from the previous year.

Hotel sales rose 19.2% sequentially in February, just under 6.13 billion won. Revenue is believed to have risen 4.7% year-over-year.

Lotte Tour’s February casino table drop, which customers paid to buy chips for table gaming, came in at 105.45 billion won, down 12.7 percent from January.

Lotte Tour announced in January that it recorded a net loss of 203.55 billion won for the full year 2023, up 9.4% from the same period last year.

Lotte Tour’s annual revenue rose 70.7% to nearly 313.55 billion won in 2023, while foreign-only casino sales rose 248.7% year-on-year to 152.33 billion won.
