Casino Rock-REME in Gatino, Quebec, has once again been operating for the public since February 28, 2022. This is possible after the local government announced last month that it would lift some of the province’s health and safety protocols from late February and allow casinos and bars to renew their operations.

In late December last year, Quebec imposed new health restrictions on many businesses, including the casino industry, which was required to close gaming properties. Local government decisions are due to the increasing number of cases of unprecedented situations in the provinces and therefore to slow the spread.

Casino Lacremi officially resumed operations on Monday, February 28, 2022, after a two-month hiatus. Under the new protocol, casinos can operate with up to 50% of sponsors and require both guests and staff to wear masks during their stay.

Starting this Monday, the Gatino game facility will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. Despite the lifting of some health restrictions, customers will still have to show their vaccination passports and valid photo ID to enter the property. A mask is also a must, the casino says.

According to management, Casino Lakremi also currently offers restaurant facilities. Banco Bistro and Arom: Seafood and Grill are now available to customers. According to local regulations, food and alcohol can be served until 12 a.m. In addition, live entertainment at this property will be discontinued until further notice.

Quebec announced this month that it will further ease health and safety rules, allowing all entertainment establishments, including casino properties, to welcome guests with maximum capacity from March 14, 2022, and lifting vaccine passport requirements if health indicators continue to improve.

Earlier this year, the Gatino gaming facility wrapped up a dispute with its employees, and in late January, CUPE 3892 – a union representing 300 casino workers – announced the ratification of a Lotto-Québec tentative agreement to raise employees’ wages, and the Crown Corporation’s proposal was approved with 96% of its members.

In December 2021, a Radio-Canada survey found Casino Lakremi in trouble after it was found that local health and safety measures had not been properly implemented. The survey found that many customers at the venue did not wear protective masks, while employees did not remind them to wear them again.
