2014 World Cup star turned Journeyman ‘scored one goal and provided five assists’ in Colombia’s fourth-place finish

Colombia defeated Panama 5-0 in the quarterfinals of the Confederation of South American Football (CONMEBOL) Copa America 2024 at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, USA, at 7 a.m. ET on Sunday. Colombia will now face Uruguay, who defeated Brazil, in the semifinals.

On the day, Colombia deployed a 4-3-3 formation. Diaz, Cordoba, and Jamez lined up up front, while Arias, Uribe, and Rios formed the midfield. The back four was a combination of Mojica, Cuesta, Sanchez, and Muñoz, with Vargas in goal. Panama countered with Payardo, Martinez, Miller, and Mosquera.

It was a complete victory for Colombia. They opened the scoring in the eighth minute. Cordoba headed in a cross from Jámez off a corner kick. A second goal quickly followed. In the 15th minute, Jamez converted a penalty kick from Arias. In the final minutes of the first half, Colombia widened the gap even further. In the 41st minute, on a free kick, Jamez made quick work of the ball and Dias rattled the net.

With a comfortable lead, Colombia added a fourth goal in the 25th minute of the second half. After Rios’ goal, Colombia pulled Jámez, Corvado, and Muñoz to conserve their strength. Colombia’s firepower didn’t stop. Four minutes into second-half stoppage time, they were awarded another penalty kick, which Borja converted to put the game out of reach.

Colombia will now face Uruguay for a spot in the final. Jámez had a goal and two assists in the match, helping Colombia to a 3-0 halftime lead. He has one goal and five 먹튀검증 assists in the tournament.

Jámez, now 32, rose to stardom at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He was the top scorer (6 goals) at the tournament with Colombia’s national team, leading his country to the quarterfinals. Real Madrid was interested in him. Real paid a hefty transfer fee of €80 million to bring him to the club.
