Ulsan HD travels to Daejeon to face Hana Citizen.
Ulsan will host Daejeon in the fifth round of the Hana Bank K League 1 2024 at Daejeon World Cup Stadium at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 2. Ulsan is the only unbeaten team in the 12-team K-League. After two consecutive wins and two draws, they have eight points. They are third in the standings behind Gimcheon Commerce and Pohang Steelers, who both have nine points.
Including the Asian Champions League (ACL) round of 16 and quarterfinals, Ulsan has five wins and three draws from eight matches in February and March. Ulsan took the lead in the fourth round of the K League 1 against Jeonbuk Hyundai on March 30 through back-to-back goals from Lee Dong-kyung and Kim Ji-hyun, but conceded two goals later to draw 2-2.
In his first start in the K-League, U-22 international Choi Kang-min impressed head coach Hong Myung-bo with a solid performance at right wing-back. Vojanic was named to the starting lineup for the second straight match against Incheon United in the fourth round, cementing his place in the team.
Ulsan’s first opponent in April is Daejeon.
There’s a debt to pay. Ulsan have tasted victory against 10 of their 11 opponents in the 2023 season, with Daejeon the only one without a win. They went 2-2 last season.
They will be relying heavily on the left foot of Lee Dong-kyung, who has been on fire lately. In the third round against Jeonbuk, 안전놀이터 추천 Lee scored the opening goal with his left foot, extending his goal scoring streak to three games. To date, Lee has four goals and two assists in four league games to lead the team’s unbeaten streak. Lee will look to extend his goal streak to four games.
It will also be interesting to see if striker Lee Min-kyu can find the back of the net again. The striker has been particularly strong in Daejeon. He scored two dramatic draws last year, a 3-3 tie on May 28 and a 1-1 tie on Sept. 16. Having tasted goal in the ACL against Banfore Kofu in February, it will be interesting to see if he can give his team a win with his first goal in the league this season.
After this trip to Daejeon, Ulsan will embark on a three-game homestand (Suwon FC, Gangwon FC, Yokohama Marinos – ACL quarterfinal first leg). Ulsan aims to end the tough conditions of playing two away matches in four days with a win and return home to continue its cruise.
