As the name suggests, the Pink Tober Stay, Eat and Drink Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign was held in October this year. The campaign generated revenue from special food and beverage sales, room packages at premium landing hotels and donations from various team members. The casino also recently organized a 12-day special campaign around Thanksgiving.
Anne Marie Dillon, deputy director of development at the American Cancer Society, commented that the organization is grateful to continue to work with the New York Gaming Property. According to her, with the donated money, the organization will be able to save more lives with breast cancer through their cancer research and patient support through the Hope Club.
Currently, breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer among women in the U.S., and the American Cancer Society is working to support all affected communities affected by the disease. Moreover, stride on breast cancer raises capital to fund more innovative cancer research as well as providing more education and guidance for people to reduce their risk.
Linda Waters, the casino’s human resources director, explained that the fight against breast cancer is very personal to many of the company’s team members and families. She also says that the organization’s work is important because of their resources, support, and education on the issue. The Shenectady-based property first opened in 2017 and has since become a major supporter of the American Cancer Society, supporting its full range of work. In late November, the casino announced the launch of another charity campaign named 12-day donation. The new initiative kicked off at 4:00 p.m. on Nov. 30, 2021, and the casino donated US$500 to each community organization, such as the Animal Protection Foundation, Bethesda House, Procter’s, Schenectady’s Safe Inc., and several other community organizations.
