Point Betting And Ottawa Red Blacks Launch Collaboration

Ottawa Redblacks is also gearing up for the launch of the long-awaited open eye gaming market for Ontario’s private operators. Last Thursday, the football team announced that it had reached an agreement with Pointbet Canada to make Ontario licensed sports books the team’s official sports betting partner for this season.

Pointbet is an Australian sports book, and its department, Pointbet Canada, recently announced that it has received approval from Ontario’s Alcohol and Gaming Commission to join the new iGaming market. The open sports betting and interactive gaming regime will begin on April 4, 2022, with the company joining at least 20 other regulated sportsbooks.

It’s worth noting that this new partnership will mark the logo of Pointbet Canada on the Ottawa Red Blacks kit, along with promoting the company through TD Place, and will be the new presentation sponsor for the Pointbet sideline club with more than 800 seats in TD Place.

Mark Goudie, president and CEO of Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group, noted that sportsbooks are gaining the best properties as sponsors for the team’s uniforms and the Points Bet Sideline Club. He explained that the contract represents the company’s commitment to establish brands in the country and Ottawa as part of RNation.

Nic Sulky, Chief Commercial Officer of Pointevet Canada, noted that the partnership with the Ottawa Red Blacks is one of the priorities. Sulky noted that he knows how enthusiastic Ottawa fans are because many operators are concentrated in southern Ontario. He said the idea was to engage more people in the Ottawa area, while also establishing the company’s brand for decades to come.

The CCO also made it clear that the company is taking responsible gaming and consumer protection very seriously. He explained that one of the main goals of the sports book when building the brand is to provide a safe product for players to bet on. He expects fierce competition in the market, but believes the partnership with the Red Blacks will help the company.

In 2021, PointsBet signed with Dailyfaceoff.com to become the official and exclusive sports betting partner for The Nation Network. The contract was officially announced on September 29, 2021, and will proceed in a few years. Mr. Sulky said the company’s concept was to connect and engage with local sports fans, and both were perfect candidates.

More recently, the company also recently shared plans to explore Alberta’s online sports betting sector. Sportsbook noted that it is willing to operate at the Calgary-Edmonton Corridor and has a huge sports fan base as well as a business-friendly environment due to its competitive tax rates and diverse workforce.
