Ottawa Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony At Hard Rock Casino

The ground-breaking ceremony of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa, scheduled to take place on June 6, 2023, will be held in an unprecedented disruption, and media officials have been invited to attend this important event, marking a major milestone in building a location for hotels and casinos in the future.

Hard Rock International will join hands with Lido Carlton Raceway Casino to bring the casino complex to life. Plans to expand C$318 million entertainment facilities in southern Ottawa were announced back in 2018, but renovations have been put on hold due to the emergence of unprecedented conditions and the impact on Canada’s land-based casino industry.

According to the company, the festival will begin on June 6, 2023, at 2:30 p.m., with elected officials and business and community leaders presenting new renders and details of the highly anticipated tourist and entertainment destinations in the Canadian capital.

The ceremony will be held indoors at The Joint, a live venue at the Lido Carleton Casino, and will feature comments from numerous officials. This includes the mayor of Ottawa and city officials, representatives of the Seminole Tribe, officials of Hard Rock International, representatives of the Ontario Lottery and gaming companies, etc. The company’s iconic guitar handle shovel will also attend the groundbreaking ceremony.

One-on-one interviews are held throughout the event, and light refreshments are provided to guests. Guest check-in begins at 2 p.m., and the ceremony begins at 2:30 p.m. at The Joint, located at 4837 Albion Road, second floor of the Lido Carleton Casino, with parking available.

Initially, the C$318 million project was supposed to be built north of the Lido Carleton Casino, which now operates in the region. However, in 2018, the plan was changed by local officials. Now the south will be more family friendly with new services such as 1,600-seat entertainment centers, dining offerings and 178-room hotel towers.

Back in 2019, Lotto-Québec shared concerns that the introduction of Hard Rock Casino Ottawa would create some problems for the surrounding gaming facilities. Crown Corporation said it could affect Casino Rock-Remy in Gatino. At the time, the alert was supported by expectations of a decline in casino revenue in the capital region.

Lynn Roiter, the chief executive of the local corporation at the time, expressed concern about the impact of the launch on Gatino’s future casino operations. The first step in Lido Carlton Raceway’s change was expected to cost Gatino C$10 million by fiscal 2019.
