Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands Casino Resort will feature VIP games “through September” on Tower 2’s 53rd and 54th floors, a resort spokesperson confirmed to GGRAsia.
The complex is operated by a unit of Las Vegas Sands Corporation, which is also the parent company of Macau operator Sands China Ltd.
The person explained: “Marina Bay Sands expects to have a gaming business on the 53rd and 54th floors of Hotel Tower 2 by September 2024.
“The ultra-luxury gaming space will satisfy VIP customers.”
A spokesperson added: “With the introduction of tower games containing relevant casino safety devices, Marina Bay Sands will continue to operate within the approved gaming zone.”
The tower-based casino facility will “mainly consist of a private gaming salon, and it will be called Paiza Sky Palace,” the company representative further explained. The Paiza gaming brand is already familiar to Sands China’s high-end gambling customers in Macau.
Upstairs, the premium gaming area is an old feature that is common in the Macau casino market. A recent example is one inside a tower that houses Raffles at the Galaxy Macau Hotel in the Galaxy Macau Casino Resort run by Galaxy Entertainment Group.
At Las Vegas Sands’ first-quarter earnings call in April, Group President and Chief Operating Officer Patrick Dumont said of Marina Bay Sands’ program to refurbish its hotel space: “We’re now done with both Tower 1 and Tower 2
“While we have originally substantially completed our $1 billion capital expenditure program, we are still in the early stages of realizing the benefits of these new products,” he added
In an investor release at the time of its second-quarter earnings report on July 24, the group said it now expects to complete the renovation of Tower 3’s rooms by the second quarter of next year.
Earlier, the company said it expects to open the refurbishment room of Tower 3 to the public by the end of January next year.
The company is investing an additional $750 million to renovate Tower 3 in Marina Bay Sands, as well as the hotel lobby and rooftop Sands Skypark of the property, an additional $1 billion spent on renovating Tower 1 and Tower 2.
The Singapore room renovation is separate from Las Vegas Sands’ pledge to invest at least S$4.5 billion ($3.3 billion) in property expansion, including the construction of a fourth hotel tower with 587 rooms.
The start of construction for the expansion of the complex has been postponed to July 2025 with a “completion target by July 2029.
