It’s no secret that Lotto Quebec is always looking for improvements in services to Quebec and is trying to keep trends and technologies up to date. This week, Crown Corporation shared that it is currently reviewing whether allowing cryptocurrencies in the form of payments at some point in the future would be a good addition. However, there are no specific plans yet.
The Crown Agency is now in a difficult time, with its gaming properties in the province once again closing in January. Their suspension was due to a new variant of the unprecedented situation. They are about to reopen, but ongoing changes in operations have taken a toll on the company’s activities and budgets.
In a virtual presentation at the Quebec City Chamber of Commerce (QCCCI), CEO Jean-François Bergeron shared that he was considering introducing cryptocurrency payments in the future, but Bergeron explained that Crown was considering it and had no special plans at the moment.
The president and CEO said the implementation of these payments would be certainly possible over the next few years. He said cryptocurrencies are leverage and banks and governments are increasingly interested. We also believe that the adoption of cryptocurrency in Quebec’s gaming industry will be part of the region’s new broader payment approach.
Bergeron added that the payment experience is now part of the idea that organizations that need to communicate with customers need to put in a lot of effort. He also said it was difficult for Crown to figure out how it would control the currency like other currencies.
Currently, Crown Agency’s casino facilities are closed for the third time due to unprecedented conditions. Mr Bergeron said the company’s second reopening was much smoother than the first because he knew how to proceed and how to respond. In other words, he said the shutdown also hurt the morale of laid-off employees.
A week ago, Crown Corporation announced that the casino could now reopen due to improved health indicators. Casino Montreal, Casino Charlevoix, Casino Lacremi, and Truia Riviere and Quebec City Gaming Rooms will reopen on February 28, 2022. Casino de Montrem, on the other hand, closed a few days later on Thursday, March 3, 2022
In addition, recently Lotto Quebec reminded lottery players in the province that $4 million in prize money is still not being charged. The first prize is a $2 million Quebec $49 prize in the Quebec City area, while the rest are at stake for a $1 million prize in Outaué on June 22, 2021, an additional $1 million prize in Eastern Township on November 5, 2022, and a $1 million prize in Lotto on June 49.
