Konami’s Quarterly Game Revenue Up 12%

Konami Corp’s gaming and systems division reported an 11.9% increase in net profit for the three months ended June 30. The Japanese conglomerate reported on Tuesday that net profit for the sector had reached 6.8 billion yen ($66.3 million) during the period.

Konami reported an increase in operating revenue from games and systems as well. It rose 4.8% to 1.3 billion yen from a year ago.

Konami said the “solid sales” of the podium and Advantage cabinet series, particularly in the U.S. market, have bolstered its performance. “Full-scale marketing is also underway in Asia, Latin America and Europe, where we are working on building distribution networks,” the company said. Konami also supplies slot games and casino management systems.

Konami’s Pachinko unit reported a 401% increase in net profit to 3.5 billion yen. It still posted an operating profit loss of 427 million yen, compared with a loss of 486 million yen a year earlier.

Konami’s overall net profit for the three months ended June 30 was 48.6 billion yen, up 6.6% year-on-year. Net profit rose 45.6% to 1.4 billion yen. In addition to gaming and pachinko, Konami is also involved in digital entertainment, health and fitness.
