This week, Gaming Innovation Group expanded its operational reach to new jurisdictions, signing an agreement with the leading Ontaria land-based casino operator. Through the Terminology Responsibility Compact, GiG will provide operators with award-winning platforms, sportsbook verticals and proven omnichannel solutions. The entire contract will be signed in the next few weeks.
Founded in 2012, GiG is the primary iGaming name that provides technology, solutions, products, and services to online betting operators. The company operates in Malta and is dual-listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, and its goal is to secure sustainable growth and profits for its partners through innovation, scalable technology and quality of service.
GiG’s latest announcement comes as a growing list of game brands choose technology providers to power them in Ontario. Prior to the most recent agreement with the province’s land-based operators, the supplier also recently launched two successful websites and has informed us of another new partnership since the beginning of the year.
As part of the agreement, GiG will provide operators with turnkey solutions, including technology platforms, OMNI solutions, front-end, CMS and sportsbooks. All of these are driven by GiG’s unique data and GiG logic rule-based solutions. According to the company, the entire contract will be signed in the coming months, with the operator going online in the online segment in the first half of 2023.
Ben Clemes, GM of GiG North America, said the company was pleased to sign an agreement with an offline operator who has been making leading names in Ontario for decades. He added that the partner’s land-based presence will allow providers to demonstrate the power of OMNI solutions as well as casinos, sports and front-end solutions.
Ontario’s market for third-party betting operators is first in Canada. It opened on April 4, 2022, and is managed by Ontario’s Alcohol and Gaming Board. In October, regulators released a second-quarter report on the market, which confirmed that the week generated a betting handle of C$6.04 billion from July 1, 2022 to September 30, 2022.
This betting handle translated into revenue just over C$267 million for the week. In Q2, the segment has 24 operators and 42 gaming websites operating and receiving bets online. In the coming months, licensed sportsbooks are expected to be able to offer horse racing bets from Woodbine Entertainment, the state’s largest operator. The horse racing group recently reported that approval from the Paris-Mutuel Agency of Canada was required to approve the change. This could happen by the end of the calendar year.
