Tim Kelly, pictured, has been named the new real estate president of Macau Casino Resort City of Dreams, said Lawrence Ho Yau Lung, chairman and chief executive of Melco Resort & Entertainment, the venue’s promoter, on Tuesday.
The new executive was most recently chairman at Atlantis Global, a major non-gaming tourism resort at Kerzner International, located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Kelly will begin work “on or around August 1,” according to an internal memo from Melco Resorts, and will report to group president and managing director Evan Winkler.
Mr. Ho said in the Melco Resort’s first-quarter earnings release that Mr. Kelly “has had great success building the Atlantis brand since joining [[Kudsner]] in 2017.”
Melco Resorts president added, “He has a unique mix of skills and experiences, and we think he can lead the next chapter of the City of Dreams.”
Melco Resorts posted a net loss of $81.3 million in the first quarter of 2023, compared with a net loss of $15.2 million in the first quarter of 2023.
Evan Winkler mentioned some of the operational changes that have already occurred at the group’s co-tie flagship, City of Dreams, following changes in the group’s management team that began earlier this year. These included building businesses in the premium bulk gambling segment.
He said: “When we went through a management transformation, Lawrence really directed the team to regain our leadership position with premium mass.”
Mr Winkler added: “We have been looking at every aspect of our business from a customer-centric perspective to ensure our product and service delivery and gaming experience fits into that leadership position.”
“If you go up to the floor specifically at Citi of Dreams, you’ll see that you’ve already moved electronics and integrated products at the end of the floor,” he added, which is closest to the resort’s Grand Hyatt Macau hotel.
“We’ve added a table,” Mr. Winkler said from where the electronic game was.
He also said the company was prepared to “better bring customers into premium areas.” The property also told gaming customers that “free inflows … Food and beverage” was provided.
