Ahn Se-young (22), who is in conflict with the Korean Badminton Association, is expected to announce a clear statement of her thoughts soon.
According to CBS No Cut News on the 12th, an official from Ahn Se-young said, “Ahn Se-young will issue a statement within this week.”
The official also expressed regret at the Badminton Association, which released various documents after Ahn expressed her discontent. “As Ahn said earlier, (the comment) was not intended to fight,” he said.
“But if you look at the association’s data, it seems that they are asking to fight,” he said, adding, “We should become an association that can take care of Ahn Se-young when the second and third come out.”
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Ahn won the gold medal in women’s singles in badminton for the first time in 28 years. In an interview right after winning the title, Ahn openly raised issues with the Badminton Association’s player management.
Ahn even left a comment hinting at the retirement of the national team, and the Olympic gold medalist’s bombshell remarks sparked controversy. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said it would set up an investigation team to see if there were any problems with the administration of the Badminton association.
On the 7th, the Badminton Association issued a 10-page statement explaining, “I have never forced the player too much.” Since then, Ahn Se-young said on social media (social network service) on the 8th, “I will tell you my thoughts and position after the Olympics are over.”
